How is the economy in our region? In 2018, the regional GDP was equal to €49,908.85m, contributing to 2.8% of national GDP (Eurostat, 2020). During period 2009-2018, the real GDP has been grown by 0.8% (Eurostat, 2020). The Ligurian economy has the highest expansion of tertiary sector among the regions of north of Italy based on mobility and transport, logistics and tourism, including the cruise sector, which in recent years had experienced strong growth , i.e. in 2017 the tertiary sector scored 16.4% of national GDP while the Italian average was 9.5% (Banca d’Italia, 2020). In 2018, GDP PPS per capita was equal to €32,600, above the Italian (€ 29,700) and the European (€ 31,000) average.
