Travelling down the M5, the fantastic five fell into an uneasy silence; Debbie had never driven this far, their compass was gone, Charlee’s phone only had 10% charge and there was the small fact that they had just travelled through time! The dismal weather and the two-hour drive was doing nothing to calm their nerves. Eventually, the screech of seagulls and the iridescent horizon signalled that they had arrived in Torquay. “That’s it...it’s gone…” Charlee stated, mournfully. “My phone has officially run out of charge.” “Don’t be so dramatic!” replied Debbie, “We can see the signs to Kent’s Cavern - my mum must be there!” On their arrival, the stench of damp enveloped them, whilst they descended into the dark depths below. Testing the echo, Debbie called out, “Hello…” and the cave repeated her words until silent. Out of the blue, the caves responded by shouting, “Debbie....is that you..ou...ou?” Astonished by the reply, the children turned to each other - a talking cave?! It was then that Debbie stepped in, “MUM!...I’M COMING!” Following the familiar voice, the children walked in the cratered footprints of their ancestors, passing through passages, under stalactites and around ancient columns. Through the labyrinth of rocks, the children found themselves in an unexplored subterranean grotto. In the middle of the excavated rubble, stood Debbie’s mother. A warm smile spread across her face. Curious to see what Debbie’s mum had unearthed, Priti handed the lilac shell to Josh before climbing into the trench to examine the fossils. However, due to Josh’s nyctophobia, and his subsequently sweaty palms, he watched in horror as the lilac shell fell into the pit. Priti’s face turned pale; they watched the shell shatter. As tears blurred her vision, she noticed something amongst the debris. “What is it…?” asked Tanek.
