Every year in Australia, more than 950 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer. Three Australian children die from cancer every week. Among childhood illnesses, cancer remains the most common cause of death in Australia. Lions Australia wants to turn this around. The Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (or ALCCRF) funds the best available research into causes, personalized targeted treatments and hopefully one day, cures for childhood cancer. The ALCCRF is attempting to break the Guinness Book of Records for the Longest Continuous Coin Line. The proceeds will then be used for childhood cancer research. The current record stands at 75.24km. Donations will be collected up until October, before the donations being converted into 5 cent pieces for the record attempt in November. Approximately $200,000 will be required, and this equates to 3,889,744 five cent pieces and a weight of approximately 11 tonnes. The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide is supporting this project along with other Lions Clubs across Australia, but we can’t do it alone … we need your help! Contact us today to help our club support this amazing and inspiring project. Start collecting 5 cent pieces today. All donations are appreciated. At the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation, we believe that every child deserves a chance at a healthy life!
