Professional Development Policy and Procedure. This policy and procedure is applicable to all departments within Hope Enterprises Inc. The purpose of this policy is to ensure all Hope Employees complete required trainings for the applicable department in which they are assigned. Policy section one: The annual training year is defined as the period beginning July 1 of each year and ending on June 30 of the following year. Policy section two: All newly hired employees and non-employees providing services will complete required training. Policy section three: All newly hired employees will complete New Employee Orientation training. Policy Section four: Employees who work in the following departments will complete 12 hours of training each year: Management Program Administrative Fiscal Dietary Housekeeping Maintenance Ancillary Staff Person Consultants and Contractors who are paid or contracted by the provider and who work alone with individuals Volunteers who work alone with individuals, Paid and unpaid interns who work alone with individuals. Policy section five: The following employees will complete 24 hours of training related to job skills and knowledge each year: Direct Service Professionals (DSP) and Life Sharers who provide an HCBS or base-funding services to the individual Direct supervisors of direct service professionals. Policy section six: The Annual Training hours will encompass the following topic areas as indicated by the Office of Developmental Programs: Person-Centered Practices Community Integration Individual Choice Assisting Individuals to Develop and Maintain Relationships Prevention, Detection and Reporting Abuse, Suspected Abuse and Alleged Abuse in Accordance with OAPS, CPS & APS Individual Rights Recognizing and Reporting Incidents Safe and Appropriate Use of Behavior Supports (if the person works directly with an individual) Implementation of the Individual Plan (if the person provides and HCBS or base-funding service) Policy section seven: All employees will complete Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training annually. Policy section eight: All employees will complete the following training annually to maintain a safe work environment: Blood Borne Pathogens Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazardous Materials Back Safety – Safe Lifting Techniques Slips, Trips & Falls Emergency Training Driver's Safety Training Policy Section nine: Direct Support Professionals who work directly with an individual will complete the following additional required training: Emergency Training which includes the following General Fire Safety Evacuation Procedures Responsibilities during fire drills The designated meeting place outside the building Smoking safety procedures Use of fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and fire alarms Notification of the local fire department as soon as possible after a fire is discovered First Aid Heimlich techniques and cardiopulmonary resuscitation Medication Administration Advanced Non-Oral (as applicable) Insulin Restrictive Plans/Behavior Support Emergency Mock Drills Policy section ten Documentation of completed training will be maintained. Procedure Section 1: Professional Support Services will: A. Develop an Annual Training Plan B. Develop, coordinate, and ensure delivery of required training topics. C. Support other departments to ensure delivery of training. D. Maintain documentation of completed training. Attachments to the policy include the following: A. Training Letter Year B.
