Equipment Operator And Pedestrian Safety. Before starting, walk completely around the equipment, making sure no one is under the machine, on it, or close to it. Do not start until everyone is clear of the machine. Always back into your parking spot. This allows you to be visible to others when driving out, and increases your visibility. When approaching blind corners in the yard, always stop, look, and listen. Operators must be vigilant in checking that the area is clear, and safe for travel. All persons must be a minimum of 15 feet away from equipment when it is in operation. When changing loader buckets, equipment operators must always test the bucket to ensure it is properly attached before proceeding to load a customer. If you witness a bucket detaching and falling off at any point during regular work motions a manager must be informed. Pedestrians must always be aware of trucks and equipment in their vicinity. Always make eye contact with the operator or driver when walking near heavy equipment. The pedestrian is responsible for making eye contact with the driver and ensuring the driver is aware of your presence. The driver will either wave or nod to signal awareness. Always wear a high visibility vest or shirt when in the yard, Stop look and listen at blind corners, and yield right of way to the driver. Thank you for watching and be safe.
