Eli did 99% in Cinema 4D, stay tuned for a tutorial. But one was done in Blender. First, we grab the 3D model from NASA. Some of the materials need to be fixed depending on the 3D software or file type you use. Usually, it's just nodes not connected properly. Next, we rig the model. You want to make sure when you parent the object together, you keep transformation. Or pieces go flying. For the terrain, I downloaded a free model from Quixel that looked close enough to mars. We just duplicated it a few times to fill the camera frame. Lastly, for lighting, we added a cube and expanded it, and then gave it a volumetric material with very low density and reddish color. For the light, we just added a sun lamp and played with the brightness. I like to parent the camera to a null object and adjust the position and rotation of the camera that way. Finally, we just animated the different rigged parts together to show the rover image the ground. Let us know if you want to see a full video from Eli in Cinema 4D.
