The real place where you can feel the climatic influence of the Mediterranean is the area around Lake Doyran, in the southeastern part of Northern Macedonia. The openness to the south and the low altitude of 148 meters cause the average annual water temperature to be around 15 to 18 degrees. While in summer the temperature is from 25 to 27 degrees, so you can think that you are in the waters of a tropical lake. There is a real Mediterranean ambience on the shores of Lake Doyran. Lake Doyran abounds in rich indigenous flora and fauna. That counts a dozen endemic species of mollusks, sponges, worms, insects. The lake is rich in many species of fish such as catfish, Bleak, eel, carp and Vimba bream. On the lake you can catch fish surrounded by many species of birds such as cormorants, wild geese, ducks, foxes and pheasants.
